academic-development

Course Overview

In JK Rowling's debut novel 'Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone', we enter a fantastic, magical world, far from the ordinary world of muggles. The protagonist, Harry, an ordinary boy with extraordinary powers, is faced with the challenge of protecting the Philosopher's Stone from the evil Voldemort. The forces of good and evil draw close together as Harry and his friends navigate through the dangerous and unpredictable world of Hogwarts. Each week students will study a chapter or two from the book, which will be read together as an e-book. The class will look at the key themes, motifs and symbols and will unpack certain important phrases in order to better understand the author's intentions. This course is for anyone who wants to learn more about the magical world created by JK Rowling.
