Course Overview

On this higher-level course, students will expand their knowledge of the different practitioners and styles of drama. Students will harness this knowledge and apply it to devising drama pieces. Students will cover many of the styles of drama that make up the foundations on which the world of theatre has been built. A vast range of styles will be explored with a focus on how to apply a specific style to a given stimulus. From Naturalism and Stanislavski to Surrealism and Artaud, students will explore what these different styles offer them as individuals, as well as to the medium of drama itself. The aim of the course will be to instil confidence in each student to be able to put their knowledge into practice by considering how they might adapt their drama piece to adhere to a specific style of drama or practitioner.
