Students will not only build on their understanding of the sound and style of music in the baroque era, but will also be taught how to hone their critical listening skills to eventually compose and perform their own baroque music.
Have you ever wondered what the music of the baroque era sounds like? This course is structured using the elements of music and focuses on building students' listening, performance and composition skills, integrating all of the skills needed to prepare for a GCSE music qualification. The listening lessons focus on one element in relation to the baroque and allow students to develop their critical listening skills through a series of listening and short written exercises, including a GCSE-style listening test. Each listening lesson is then followed by a practical lesson which sees students applying their knowledge through performing classical music and composing their own music in baroque styles. By the end of this course, students will have a comprehensive knowledge of the sound and style of baroque music, as well as a completed baroque performance and composition.
