The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC): What Does It Mean for Me?
Understand this important international legislation and its implications, as well as current global issues relating to children's rights. This course takes students through a vital topic that is little covered in standard curricula.
This is a five-lesson course which provides an overview of this important international legislation and its implications, in addition to current global issues relating to children's rights. This course can be tailored for children and young people to learn more about their rights, for those interested in studying education, sociology, law or international development, or for those anticipating a career working with children and young people in some capacity (social work, education, paediatric medicine). The course involves a summative task, whereby students prepare a presentation on a chosen article from the UNCRC and present to the group. This task will help students gain a deeper understanding of the implications of a specific article and increase confidence and familiarity with presenting to an audience using technology. The course will also require students to conduct self-study using the provided materials outside of the sessions.
