academic-development

Course Overview

This series of lessons is for students who are at the stage of blending; they can recognise most set one sounds and are now at the stage of learning how to segment and blend sounds to form words. These young students will become accustomed to words such as phonemes, graphemes, blending and segmenting. Young students will follow the phonemes and continuously revise them, so they are confident in knowing all of them before moving onto set two sounds. They will study one phoneme per lesson, so they become familiar with it. Students will use their 'Fred Fingers' to support segmenting and blending words. Students will need access to a pencil and paper so they can note the results of their blending and the words they come up with. This will be used as evidence of whether the student needs more support in learning the phonemes or whether they are ready for the next stage.
