Course Overview

This course covers a standard topic taught across all physics courses: Oscillations and Waves. It will begin with the introduction to oscillatory motion which takes two sessions as a topic based around new concepts and rigorous mathematics. Afterwards, students will learn the foundations of waves and how travelling waves are a string of oscillating particles and can take on different forms. Not all waves are travelling, however, which will be discussed further in the lesson about standing waves. The course then progresses into wave behaviour and phenomena mostly concerning light waves. Students will look at single and double slit interference and why soap bubbles have different colours inside them. At the end the Doppler effect, which causes the change in pitch of a siren as an ambulance passes by, will be introduced. This course is perfect for students studying physics at A-Level or IB.
