Course Overview



Having a secure grasp on the basics of music notation and the concepts of keys, scales, and intervals can enable you to progress to the next level on your instrument much more easily. This course will start with the basics of staff notation, the layout of the keyboard and rhythmic durations and will progress on to concepts such as major and minor keys and scales, chord construction and more advanced rhythmical concepts. The material for the various topics is presented in an accessible way and is designed to be easily relatable to practical instrumental playing, regardless of your instrument. The course covers grades 1-3 of the ABRSM music theory syllabus.
