Conflict and Tension between East and West, 1945-1972
Examine all revolutionary movements between 1945 and 1972, as well as how they burst into existence. This course considers many historical perspectives and encourages lively debate and discussion in class.
This course offers a method of studying world history, which enables students to understand the complex and diverse interests of different states and individuals, and the ideologies they represented. There will be a detailed analysis of many perspectives on historical events to ensure students learn to give sound judgement and feedback. This is a skill that will be extremely important in examinations. The course will consider revolutionary movements during the time between 1945 and 1972 and focuses on the causes and events of the Cold War. Students will seek to comprehend and communicate effectively how and why conflict occurred and why it proved difficult to resolve the tensions which arose during the Cold War. This course also considers the role of key individuals and groups and how they were effective in shaping change and also how they were affected by and influenced international relations at the time.
