A course that takes the intermediate-level drummer to the next level. From exercises that improve limb interdependence to exercises that elevate touch and tone, students will learn the steps they can take to start sounding like the drummer they want to be.
The most common complaints from drummers who've been playing for a while are 'I'm stuck in a rut. How do I get to the next level?' or 'I don't' know what to practice'. With this in-depth course, students will learn the steps they can take to start sounding like the drummers they want to be. By re-examining practice routines, approaches and habits, they will improve their technical skills, listening and interpretation, sound and feel to elevate their playing from intermediate to professional level. Topics involve exercises to improve limb interdependence and to understand rhythmic patterns, to demystify concepts behind linear drumming, odd-time signatures and how to play fast, improving touch and tone, and many dynamic exercises. Students will be asked to be honest and focused about practice, and the techniques behind core skills will be re-examined to make them fluid and more effective. The course will not focus on a specific style but will incorporate elements of several styles to reinforce concepts and exercises.
