Forced Into Being: How People, Movement and Places Built Ancient Israel
Get to grips with key history skills such as source analysis, as well as the history of how ancient Israel came to be through the use of forced migration.
The ancient world is one we know little about. Some texts, like the Hebrew Bible, have survived to this day, but how reliable are they and how accurate a picture do they paint of ancient life? On this course, students will assess the key books in the Old Testament canon and dive into the mysteries of the ancient world. This is a programme that is not only full of epic historical discovery but will teach students key history skills such as source analysis and 'gobbet' exercises, the latter of which is an extremely useful tool across multiple academic disciplines. Students will learn the history of how ancient Israel came to be through the use of forced migration. They will assess the reliability of the biblical texts and search for answers to a number of mysteries. This is an engaging course that will teach a number of valuable skills. A high level of discussion and debate is encouraged during lessons.
