World War II is perhaps the most significant event in world history in the last two hundred or more years. It was a battle of ideas and way of life for all the people of the world. Its battlefields covered most of the world, leading to the deaths of as many as one hundred million people. This course will cover all the major aspects of WWII. Topics range from the aftermath of WWI and Versailles, the rise of Imperial Japan, the Battle of Britain, the war in the Pacific, and the use of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. This course will give students a solid understanding of one of the most important historical events of all time, as well as provide them with context on how WWII has influenced our lives today.
