Course Overview

If students are interested in textile design, adding texture to 2D artwork, or if they've considered experimenting with hand embroidery, but they don't know where to start...they can start right here! This programme introduces some simple techniques using easily sourced materials for them to try. Students will cover some basic design processes, as well as how to translate the designs to fabric, framing up in a hoop or frame, some basic hand embroidery and fabric manipulation. This course will encourage students to think sustainably, use materials they might already have lying around, and give them some interesting artistic skills they can take forward into other projects. The programme is designed for complete beginners so students should not feel as though they need to bring lots of prior knowledge onto the course. They should just turn up with enthusiasm and a desire to learn.
