Course Overview

Students will learn how to be an archaeologist, as they discover the Stone Age to Iron Age timeline, the different sources, evidence and vocabulary used by archaeologists and how to carry out a dig. This course will look at how to use chronological vocabulary and teach students to put the events of prehistory into the correct order and understand the scale of prehistoric time. Additionally, students will learn to explain the different sources of evidence about prehistory and evaluate the reliability of different sources of evidence about prehistory. As well as this, students will build up an understanding of how layers of debris left behind by humans build up over time and an understanding that lower layers are older, and higher layers are younger. After this course, students will be well-versed in the basics of archaeology.
