Family and Work: Life Integration for Working Mums and Dads

wellbeing

Course Overview

Parenting can be tough. How do parents establish good boundaries between work and home life when working from home? How can parents make sense of their children's reactions to the changes they've seen in school and how they operate as a family? During this course, students will be shown practical ways to create boundaries around their work and strategies for mentally shifting between work and family mode, minimising feelings of guilt. Students will be exposed to some effective daily habits to promote their family's physical and emotional wellbeing and will learn what they can do to minimise unwanted behaviours and get a better understanding of what their child is really saying through their behaviour and how best to respond. While it is not possible to be everything to everyone all at once – adopting a realistic and mindful approach to this new chapter of life as a working parent will enable parents to become clear on their priorities. This course allows parents to practise boundary-setting skills and give them the tools to be present with whatever they are doing, which is key to a strong family connection and productivity in the workspace.
