The emphasis of these lessons is not only to teach students how to master creative writing but also to broaden their imagination. Furthermore, students will improve spelling, grammar and punctuation on this course.
Students will practise their creative writing skills and explore different stimuli to practise using their imagination. The course will explore a selection of different themes. Starting with describing settings, students will experiment with using the senses, creating characters, and structuring paragraphs to engage readers. Students will explore 'The Gothic' as a theme and how to inject tension and intrigue into their writing. They will explore the role of the narrator through writing descriptions of wartime settings, practise description using figurative language through fantasy writing, and learn key writing skills along the way. Throughout the course, students will develop their grammar, punctuation and spelling skills, as well as become familiar with new vocabulary to enhance their writing. They will read a collection of creative examples, with various themes and styles, before preparing to write their own creative masterpiece.
