Course Overview

One person every thirty-seven seconds dies from heart disease; one in three people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives, and ten million people die from dementia every year. This course covers the causes and progression of some of the most prevalent and deadly diseases, as well as how we can treat them and the current challenges they present. Some diseases covered include Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and diabetes. The material covered will be supplementary to GCSE/A-Level syllabi and aimed at students with an interest in biological science. By the end of this course, students will have a more thorough understanding of the biology behind some of the world's most prevalent diseases.
