Course Overview

A focus on how society developed, starting off looking at Neolithic society forming in Britain and the example of Cheddar Man as an historical source. Then looking at elements of continuity and change in different social aspects (politics, innovations, social structure, religion) across the civilisations of Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece and Rome. If desired, this can then flow into the rise of Christianity and it spreading to a united England under one King. This course will be highly interactive and encourages free debate and open discussion between students. All who take the course will be trained in various skills such as close analysis and will be equipped with all the tools necessary to effectively unpack sources.
