Hip-Hop in the Age of Cancel Culture and Social Injustice
Take a look first at the origin of both Hip-Hop and rap, before moving into a consideration of how it fits today with our society of social media and polarised politics. This course is the right fit for anybody interested in Hip-Hop, poetry or socio-political issues.
The world we live in is turbulent and no genre illustrates that more than Hip-Hop. This course will look at the history of Rap and the birth of Hip-Hop, as it evolves through its different forms and fits into the current age of social media and divisive politics. The controversies, activism and art will be explored over seven lessons in an attempt to uncover the unspoken rules and power surrounding freedom of expression in music. This course is perfect for anyone with interest in Hip-Hop, poetry, or socio-political issues. We'll be covering a range of topics from the commercialisation of Hip-Hop to the Music of Race.
