Course Overview

This course will expose students taking their English GCSE to a wide variety of poetry in order to develop their ability to closely analyse unseen poems. By the end of the course, they will be able to analyse and compare key features such as their content, theme, structure and use of language in a limited amount of time to begin to prepare them for the experience of the Unseen Poetry Section in the exam paper. A large proportion of the course will focus on honing students' ability to engage with new material and develop their own responses to the poetry before they move on to working on their essay planning and being able to express themselves in a concise, original and well thought out manner.
