On this one-day workshop, students receive an introduction to mindfulness, its history, and learn the key skills of calming the mind through meditation.
By attending this one-day workshop, students receive an introduction to mindfulness and its history. Students learn about the benefits that practicing mindfulness can bring, as well as Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), the teachings of Jon Kabat-Zinn and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). Techniques will be used from these programmes during the workshop.
Furthermore, students explore formal and informal mindfulness techniques. Students are shown how to meditate and practice various meditations throughout the day as well as a little mindful movement. Students are taught how to use mindfulness to build resilience and compassion. On this course, a safe space is created to allow students to share their experience, explore any difficulties and ask questions.
By the end of the course, students will be confident enough to have their own regular mindfulness practice. The tools and techniques shown can be easily incorporated into daily life and are transformative to a person’s mental and physical health. Students are also shown where to find ongoing support.
The day is structured in four parts. There will be a morning break, lunch break and afternoon break.
