Course Overview

‘Through the Looking Glass’ is a story of adventure and bravery, set against the backdrop of a wonderfully fantastical world. The sequel to Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’, this book again follows Alice’s journey, where she encounters characters such as Tweedledum and Tweedledee, Humpty Dumpty and the Mad Hatter. This course will focus on close reading, identifying Carroll’s main themes, motifs and the playfulness of his language in order to get a real sense of the adventure and liveliness which runs through this book.
