Course Overview

Lasting from the 5th to the 15th century, life in medieval Britain was very different from our world today. The feudal system was very strict and limited people to the social classes and gender roles they were born into, healthcare and medicine were primitive at best and largely based on superstition, warfare was bloody and largely focused on acquisition or defence of territory, and even systems of power were autocratic.

The goal is for students to become familiar with the medieval period particularly in Britain, including institutions such as feudalism, monarchy and the Church, major events, notable figures, medieval culture, warfare and medicine.
