Teaching Experience

I have worked in various schools and helped pupils of different age groups. I worked at Leintwardine Endowed C of E Primary School, Herefordshire and helped generally in lessons. Later, at Chateau de Sauveterre, France (I was a student here in 2005 and came back to help/teach in 2016) I helped with the day-to-day running of the school and also held one-to-one learning support lessons for students aged 11-12 struggling with English and maths.

Immediately after I left school, I worked as a general teaching assistant in London, and worked with children aged 4-10, helping with maths, English and science, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I have given advice to various students in relation to their Oxbridge applications; regarding interview preparation, reading lists and personal statements. In my spare time since leaving secondary school, I have gone out of my way to teach at different primary schools, as I love working with children and feel I can really make a difference to those who need academic help.

About Alice H

I am an optimistic, personable and enthusiastic individual currently working in London as a student, preparing for my training contract at a law firm starting in September 2021. As a student, I have a flexible schedule, therefore I am readily available and can work around and devote my time to the needs of pupils. My aim is to establish an excellent relationship with pupils, long or short term, in order to create a comfortable, yet effective and productive learning environment. Through my own experience, I have learnt that confidence is key to a pupil's success. Therefore I work hard to encourage individuals throughout their learning. I understand, and therefore am sensitive and patient when pupils find areas of their education daunting and I work hard to create innovative and fun ways to think about these difficult areas.

I did an interesting mix of A-Levels and came up with my own techniques to manage the difficulties that I encountered. Through my own education, I have learnt how to grow and nourish exam technique, whether that be through refining writing skills and essay styles, improving revision techniques and organisation or encouraging analytical thinking and I wish to impart these skills through teaching. I am organised and thorough and understand the importance of researching and understanding exactly what it is the examiners want, in order to give pupils the best chance of success. Whilst my future career is in law, I have always had a passion for education, including my own. My experience working with children at various schools is a testament to my enjoyment of teaching and I truly aim to create the best possible environment from which pupils can go on to achieve top results.
