Teaching Experience

During my time at school, I volunteered at Harris School where I worked with children aged between 9 and 12 assisting them with maths and organising creative activities for them. I first started teaching mostly children of my parent's friends or my own friends who needed help with essay structure or course content. After leaving school I volunteered at a school in India teaching children aged between 7 and 10. Since then I have taught a range of students from 7+ to A-level. Throughout my time at university, I have worked as a part-time nanny for children ranging in ages between 7 and 14 and part of my role was to assist them with their homework.

About Eliza H

I have always enjoyed working with children and feel great satisfaction from helping someone work through a problem and watching their self-confidence grow. I strongly believe that each student has a different way of learning and so the freedom to work with a child one-to-one and develop techniques that are suited to their personal needs and individual learning approach excites me. I think the fear of making mistakes can hinder a child's engagement with a subject and so the opportunity to work with a child in a space where they feel comfortable to make mistakes and learn from them really interests me. My focus is on building confidence and developing key skills whilst providing engaging and memorable lessons.

In my free time, I enjoy reading and cooking. I have always had a passion for food and in 2015 completed a 3-month cookery course. I am also a supporter of Chilly Dippers which is a mental health initiative focusing on the physical and mental health benefits of cold water swimming.
