Teaching Experience

I was the PE teaching assistant at Falkner House Girl's School in South Kensington for two years. I taught lessons alongside the PE teacher, helping younger children develop sports skills, social skills and confidence. I also fulfilled many more general teaching assistant roles like reading with the children and guiding individuals through their work in a classroom setting. During the coronavirus lockdown, I was part of a teaching team that operated in a key workers school where I worked with both boys and girls, teaching them the content their class teachers had passed on, ranging from maths and English to NVR and geography.

Prior to my time as a teaching assistant, I worked for three years as a ski instructor in Switzerland. I taught a wide range of abilities and ages, developing strong relationships with all of my clients. Being a ski instructor taught me the importance of understanding how students, young and old, learn and the important skill of developing confidence in people who don't believe in their own abilities. This is a skill that I implemented during my work at Falkner House, encouraging children to come out of their shells and enjoy their time at school instead of just going through the motions.

It's so important that all students thrive in their education and don't see it as a chore. I believe that if a child is enjoying their learning, they will absorb so much more and retain the information as a positive memory; that is something I prioritise above all else.

About Angus G

My time at Falkner House taught me that I wanted to be a teacher, and so it is now my aim to study hard for my degree and then work towards becoming a teacher by completing the necessary steps. So, alongside my degree, I want to keep working with children and on my teaching techniques so that I can be the best teacher I can be. I'm an incredibly active person and enjoy all sports, particularly cricket and football. I'm an avid reader and passionate about film and music. I love new challenges and attack each one with unshakable positivity and energy.
