Teaching Experience

I focus on providing young students, aged between 4-14, a productive and nurturing environment to help young people become fearless learners in maths and English. My role involved adapting my style of teaching depending on the student's needs. Teaching to a 4-year-old and a 14-year-old takes different teaching approaches to keep the student engaged; through this experience, I learnt how to build rapport and use different learning techniques to keep them enthusiastic about learning. In addition to this, I was faced with challenging behaviour from young students with special needs that required me to adapt my teaching style. For example, implementing behaviour regulations for a child with ADHD to ensure they stayed focused on their work and did not distract their peers. Furthermore, I provided a fun learning environment through positive reinforcement to keep the children optimistic about their learning goals.

Presently, I provide one-on-one lessons at home. My role as an Educator here is more independent because it involves me planning my own lessons focused around the goals of the student. I use my own materials and exam practise to enhance improvement in GCSE students.

In the past, outside of my GCSE studies, I voluntarily mentored fellow students in GCSE maths and science. This more informal experience exposed me to different levels of ability and taught me how to build rapport with fellow peers to build a trusting and positive relationship. In addition, my later role as an A-level mentor for English literature challenged me with more difficult material. I delivered this information through my own useful learning materials and organised structured revision sessions to help my mentee achieve their goals.

About Kleida N

I am an undergraduate student studying Psychology at King's College London. I currently teach and I use my platform to enhance learning for students on all levels leading up to A-levels. My goal as an Educator is to combine subject content with effective revision tools to enhance students' academic potential. Alongside my interest in teaching and studying at university, I also enjoy art, reading, travelling and keeping up to date with reports published by the ICSR. Currently, outside of my studies, I volunteer for the Alternatives to Violence Project Britain which aims to provide inmates with an effective 'Facing up to Conflict' course to help rehabilitate and manage their anger.
