Course Overview

This course is catered to students who are taking their English GCSE. To begin with, there will be an introductory class that refreshes the students' knowledge of the key features of poetry analysis. This will set up a solid basis to ensure that the students can apply literary devices confidently to the poems studied in the Poems: Past and Present Anthology. Students will be taken through each poem required for the course and apply their critical and analytical skills in order to formulate their own interpretation and response to the poems. Essay practice and essay planning will be interwoven into these classes to ensure that the students can feel confident in their approach to poetry analysis before being guided through the challenge of poetry comparison to wrap up the course.
