Prisoners of Geography: Ten Maps That Tell You Everything You Need To Know About Global Politics
Using Tim Marshall's 'Prisoners of Geography' as the basis of teaching, this course will help students to develop a strong understanding of many of the most crucial global issues today and think about international relations through new lenses.
Who cares about geography? Why does it matter that the USA is surrounded by oceans on both its eastern and western borders? This course will use Tim Marshall's 'Prisoners of Geography' as the basis of teaching. Students will engage with ten maps of crucial regions which will help explain the geopolitical strategies of the world powers. Marshall examines the ten maps to discuss topics such as their mountains, weather, deserts and borders in order to see how the physical characteristics affect the decisions made by their leaders. Students on this course will develop a strong grounding on many of the most crucial global issues of the day and think about international relations through new lenses. This course is recommended for any students who might want to pursue international relations, geography, history or politics at university.
