Course Overview

'Harry Potter' is a series of extremely popular fantasy novels by J. K. Rowling. Where does the author get her inspiration from? Although these books are fiction, a lot of the ideas are based on truth, whether it be a historical event, political movement or geographical location. This course delves into where Rowling got her ideas from and the truth behind what makes the 'Harry Potter' series so magical. Students will also look at how they can create their own fiction which is based on fact, and use the author's techniques to write effectively and create some magic of their own. Students will leave this course feeling more confident not only about this series but about writing and literature as a whole.
