Shakespeare: An Introduction

academic-development

Course Overview

At first glance, Shakespeare's 400-year-old-ish works might seem confusing and, if you're not careful, that confusion can even make you think they're boring! But, if you take a closer look, there are a lot of things that we can relate to today in Shakespeare's works. This course will allow students to take the plunge into Shakespeare's world, to understand what life was like whilst he was writing, and see how the key themes of his works arise from a specific, fascinating political context. By the end of this programme, students will see that Shakespeare had a phenomenal ability to write on topics that are universal and, perhaps even more importantly, timeless.
