Get inspired by a wide range of texts at 13+ and master all skills necessary for English success at this level. Equal weight on prose, poetry and creative writing.
This course is designed to encourage a love of all forms of literature in students preparing for their 13+ examinations. The aim of the first part of the course is to inspire students to widen their range of reading and aid them in expressing their responses to literature in a thoughtful and concise way in preparation for their exams. The course will then take a shift into looking at poetry and how to articulate an emotionally driven and intelligent response from the effects of the writer's use of language and literary devices. Finally, the course will move onto writing skills, which will all have creative and fun stimuli. The course is designed to be relatively flexible to the requirements and enjoyment of the students. The most important result of the course is that it stands as a starting point for a long love of English literature and language.
