Teaching Experience

I have been teaching secondary school maths for 22 years and still work as a maths teacher in the same school that I began teaching at. I have a wide range of experience helping individuals, small groups, and whole-class groups maximise their potential in mathematics. During this time, I have worked with a wide range of age groups (Year 7 to 11) and a wide range of abilities. Since January 2020, I have also been teaching lessons on a one-to-one basis.

About Philip B

I was born and raised in the UK and spent most of my life, up to the age of 16, living in a village in Northamptonshire near a town called Oundle. We then moved to Warwickshire where I completed my A-levels, before moving on to university at Keele where I spent four years completing my degree and becoming a qualified teacher.

Once I left university, I started my first teaching post in Colchester and have remained there since, although I did spend 6 months teaching in Atlanta, Georgia. During my time teaching maths, I have also been involved in many school trips. Some of these have involved taking groups of students away for up to a month to places such as the Amazon, the Himalayas, Swaziland and Madagascar. During these trips, we trekked to unexplored places and completed charity work to help the locals. In my spare time, I enjoy computing, skiing and have recently started stand up paddle boarding.
