The main goal of this course is to develop a higher level of language competence, as well as to further advance the students' grammatical and lexical proficiency in independent written and spoken language use.
In this course, students should attain the upper-advanced level of comprehension, and the advanced level of production, considerable fluency and internalised command of grammar and vocabulary. Students will attain greater autonomy and expressiveness in English, they will enrich their vocabulary with idioms and collocations, and become more self-reliant. The programme deals with important sections with various vocabulary phenomena and conversational grammar that will help students polish their English language use. The various exercises will provide students with opportunities to practise the correct choice of words, depending on the context, especially prepositions in phrasal and prepositional verbs, as well as in general use. The exercises featuring collocations will help students choose the correct, or the most natural and native-like word combinations. The course will also offer a wide variety of fixed phrases and idioms in use, so that students can achieve a higher level of native-like proficiency, and the rephrasing exercises will give them an opportunity to practise different complex sentence structures.
