Get to grips with the A-Level Media Studies theoretical framework. This course will help students understand the key theories and learn to apply these and media language in a variety of settings.
This course exclusively supports students who need help understanding the broad A-Level Media Studies theoretical framework (nineteen potential theorists). Pivotal to the course will be understanding what theorists use, with which specific set products, including unseen texts. Questioning of key theory up to a point will be encouraged in terms of its appropriateness in the application. The course will enable students to develop a full awareness of theoretical approaches, while also introducing the work of a limited number of additional theorists not on the specification (optional). After this course, students will have had a basic introduction into applying media language, as well as applying media theory in various settings.
