Teaching Experience

I have spent the past three years lecturing undergraduate students on a variety of health and wellness degree courses which include nutrition, psychological behaviour change, life coaching, anatomy and kinesiology, personal training and food science. The experience of teaching at degree level has enabled me to share the passion and fascination I have with the scientific functioning of the human body and the mechanisms behind why and how we work. I am an associate member of the Higher Education Teaching Academy and an Active IQ accredited teacher and assessor.

I have taught corporate wellness, nutrition and stress management for a multinational company, and I have also been teaching group fitness classes for five years to a variety of different clients from a wide range of backgrounds and fitness levels.

I believe that learning is a lifelong experience, and one can never have enough knowledge. Teaching has allowed me to pursue a career in which I have the capacity to continue my own learning journey and cultivate the dedication I have for the sharing of knowledge.

About Lucy R

My primary passion in life is food! I have been lucky enough to be able to build a career on the subject that fascinates me the most; I love to cook and have previously worked as a chef. However, the hours were not conducive to family life, so, at the age of 33, I returned to university to pursue my passion for wellness and the science of the human body!

My journey has enabled me to experience situations that have pushed me past my comfort zone, and as a result, has built my confidence and afforded me the capacity to realise that my only barriers are within myself.

My husband and I love to be outdoors, and my favourite pastime is driving to remote spots and wild camping. The sense of freedom and the realisation that I am a small insignificant part of the world is both liberating and grounding. I love the water in any form, from trickling streams to the ocean, and we canoe and wild swim with our four children whenever we can.

I try to live as simply as I can, and my ultimate dream is to live in a yurt on the hills in mid-Wales as I believe that wellness is not solely about the physical aspect of our lives but the psychological freedom to breathe and experience all that we are able.
