This course introduces the complex and duplicitous characters of Hedda Gabler and Maria Prozorova. Students will explore both plays and view both characters from a feminist perspective.
Hedda Gabler and Maria Prozorova, both modern classics, introduce us to complex and duplicitous characters. This course is designed to approach these famous characters in both an analytical and practical way. Students will explore both plays from a feminist perspective whilst developing their understanding of Stanislavski and Meisner methodologies. At the end of the course, students will be encouraged to put together a selection of their favourite techniques and tips and put them to practice with a monologue from either play. After this course, students will feel comfortable with other practical acting techniques as well as feminist interpretations of claustrophobic marriages.
