Course Overview

The most valuable tool to the musician and singer is the ear. Being able to identify and communicate harmonic and melodic phrases without hesitation and without error is a valuable skill in the industry and not one to be overlooked. Having a good ear for music will also enable the musician to confidently create music and remove the restriction that those without musical knowledge have. The course is adaptable to the student's current ability and can be repeated at beginner, intermediate, advanced and professional levels with small adaptations. There is always something new to learn. For instance, recognising 7ths could be replaced with recognising further extensions, and recognising simple progressions could be replaced by recognising moments of modal interchange and looking at chord inversions.
